Test by Hohenstein confirms: clothing with smartcel™ sensitive transfers the active substance zinc with a positive effect onto the skin

The renowned Hohenstein Institutes are one of the most important independent research and testing institutions in the textile sector. Now they have confirmed the transfer of the active substance zinc from clothing with smartcel™ sensitive onto the skin.

Hohenstein has tested an undershirt and a shirt with smartfiber AG´s
smartcel™ sensitive-fiber. The fibers contain the essential trace element zinc. The Hohenstein test has proven the transfer of zinc from the textiles directly onto the skin. This means that clothing with smartcel™ sensitive does transfer the positive effects of zinc – like skin protection and care –from the fiber to the user.

The test report Nr. 14.8.5.0021 by Hohenstein from March 2014 documents a transfer of the active substance from the tested textiles – undershirt and shirt – onto the skin. In a wear simulation with mechanical load, the undershirt has shown in dry state (normal indoor climate) a transfer of the active substance of 10,58 mg zinc per square meter skin, in humid climate (24 °C, 80 % relative air humidity) a transfer of the active substance of 7,91 mg zinc per square meter skin. The shirt has shown a transfer of 12,03 mg zinc per square meter skin in dry state and 9,09 mg zinc per square meter skin in humid climate.

As a result, the test report by Hohenstein, an acknowledged neutral source, certifies the positive effects of the zinc fiber
smartcel™ sensitive for the user while wearing clothing with smartcel™ sensitive.

The smartcel™ sensitive-fiber contains zinc white pharma 4 – a pharmaceutically pure zinc oxide made out of metallic zinc. The transfer of zinc oxide from textiles with smartcel™ sensitive onto the skin has skin-caring, regenerative but also odor-reducing as well as antibacterial effects.
